A whole weekend – bringing the hills of Stromlo Forest Park to Life with MTB endurance, dual slalom, short track cross country racing and fun social rides, all for a good cause! For the final round of our MTB Grand Prix Series, we have teamed up with Pedal4Pierce, a Canberra-based fund raising initiative that supports national and international research for the treatment and cure of Muscular Dystrophy. Funds raised by Pedal 4 Pierce support The Children's Hospital at Westmead and the ACT Muscular Dystrophy Association.

We invite you to Canberra's MTB mecca Stromlo Forest Park, to celebrate, help raise funds and, of course, to ride and race.

Final Rocky Trail MTB Grand Prix Round on Saturday with GP8 and GP4 hours races
Pedal4Pierce fun and explorer rides on Sunday
Additional Rocky Trail fun races and rides on Sunday – Cross-Country sprint time trial and Dual Slalom fun runs

You can collect points at every race and ride over the entire weekend and help answer the question: “Who's the King of the Hill?”
(we're looking for Queen, Duke, Duchess, Prince and Princess too).

How to register
Register for the Rocky Trail MTB Grand Prix Round 4 and add the Rocky Trail MTB Crown event when you check out for only $30 more per rider.	Online Registration is now closed - see you at the race!
If you only want to ride at the Rocky Trail MTB Crown events (Friday and Sunday only), that's possible also – for $50 per rider.	Online Registration is now closed - you can still sign up on the day.
Pedal4Pierce Charity Ride and Guided Social Rides are free. If you are a racer, bring the family and kids and they can explore Stromlo with us while you race around the hill!	Free

What it is all about – The Story
Whilst having dinner one night in September 2009, Christopher asked his parents if he could do “something to raise money for people who research things”….after some discussion, the who, what and how was worked out. Christopher was 10 years old then and is the brain child of….“Pedal 4 Pierce”.

Pierce Burns is 5 years old and has been diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD). CMD is a group of diseases causing muscle weakness at birth. Pierce is a brave young man who enjoys time with his family and friends; he loves chocolate and being a kid. Christopher’s vision is to try as hard as he can to make a difference not only for Pierce but others just like him.

Stromlo Forest Park is a cyclists playground where we can all help raise much needed funds to assist the CureCMD Organisation, a not for profit organisation finding a treatment and cure for the Congenital Muscular Dystrophies.

The first Pedal4Pierce Fun Ride was held in 2009 with 70 riders and about 200 spectators and over $10,000 were raised for CureCMD and ACT Muscular Dystrophy.

Be part of the 2010 Pedal4Pierce Charity Fun Ride – Make a difference!

The Pedal4Pierce fun ride on Sunday, 21 November is a fun event no matter who you are or what experience you have. This is not a race, just a time to enjoy the ride and raise money in doing so. Stromlo Forest Park boasts many great tracks, from the little kids track with roadside swings and play areas, to the international cross country and downhill tracks. Whether you ride on the dirt or the road, there is a track for you. “Pedal 4 Pierce” is a fundraiser for the whole family to enjoy, just like Christopher had planned it.

As part of the Pedal 4 Pierce ride this year, Christopher’s dad Nigel will be riding the Rocky Trail MTB Grand Prix Series, with the final round at Stromlo on Saturday 20 November 2010. Rocky Trail will assist Nigel to motivate more riders to join him at the Grand Prix and help raise awareness of Pedal 4 Pierce and for Congenital Muscular Dystrophy by putting on a whole weekend of riding at Mt Stromlo attracting mountain bikers and spectators alike.

Put the Rocky Trail MTB Crown weekend in your calendar - part of the entry fees will be donated to Pedal4Pierce.

On the day:

Start the Sunday with the Pedal4Pierce Charity Fun Ride around a short course that has been set out by Christopher, the 11-year old boy behind the Pedal4Pierce idea. We envisage Pierce opening the ride and Christopher leading a sea of mountain bike riders around the 4km trail.
After the Pedal4Pierce Charity Fun Ride we invite you to explore Stromlo Forest Park on guided social rides, which will be offered for FREE.
You can also take part the additional races and fun rides by Rocky Trail.
Pedal4Pierce will offer fundraising opportunities, including sausage sizzles and raffle auctions.
